As well as our community classes, Paul and the Abel Karate instructors love to be involved with local schools and nurseries too.
Here are some frequently asked questions about our school and nursery classes.
Nurseries
Abel Karate provide lessons for 3-5 year olds at nurseries in the local area including Strawberry Hill nursery (Twickenham) and Monkey Puzzle nursery (Weybridge), and we would love to teach at your nursery too.
Taster sessions
We are happy to provide a fun taster session at your nursery, getting all the children involved prior to starting classes.
Length of courses and format of classes
Our courses generally run in 10 week blocks. We generally run 2 sessions with 15 children in each group but can adapt this to the size of your nursery. Each session lasts for 20-25 minutes. Classes consist of fun interactive warm ups and stretching, Ninja techniques, colour and number co-ordination games and agility courses especially designed to stimulate the mind and to improve co-ordination and balance. As they progress we introduce different techniques such as kicks, punches and blocks. We also offer end of term badges and certificates.
Benefit to children
As well as gaining confidence, classes instil a basic understanding of respect for others, discipline and etiquette, which is vital at an early age and teaches them good values, which we hope will follow them through into later life. Students also get to learn how to count to ten in Japanese.
Benefit to you
Our classes have been very well received at other nurseries. As well as teaching children respect for adults and their peers, we have had some parents book their children in for extra days in order to take our classes.
Payment options
Option 1 – We bill parents directly and process all the paperwork.
Option 2 – The nursery can pay a flat fee to Abel Karate and can then bill parents.
Schools
Abel Karate run breakfast, lunch and after school clubs for local schools including Tolworth Junior School, St Johns Church of England Primary School, Tolworth Infant school, Malden Manor and St Paul’s Catholic Primary School. We would love to provide a club for your school too.

The Be Inspired project
This is a new and inspirational project to increase awareness that children with special needs can take part in sports, especially martial arts, such as karate. With the right coaching and the right teaching methods we believe that anything is possible. As part of this project we are offering special need schools, clubs and organisations the opportunity to hire a specially trained, qualified and DBS checked instructor to run karate workshops.
