At Abel Karate, we believe karate is about far more than punches and kicks.
It’s about building confident children, resilient young people and stronger communities through the values of respect, discipline, confidence and perseverance.
Since opening in 2010, Abel Karate has helped hundreds of children and adults across Surrey discover the life-changing benefits of martial arts in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment.
Abel Karate was founded by Sensei Paul Abel, a former England International, British Champion and Commonwealth Karate Champion with over 30 years of experience in karate.
Sensei Paul’s passion has always been to make karate accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability or experience.
His dedication to growing karate and creating opportunities for others has been recognised nationally, earning him The United Kingdom Karate Award for National Contribution. He has also had the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch for his work inspiring young people through sport.
Today, Sensei Paul continues to teach every week, helping students not only become better martial artists, but better people.
We welcome students from 4 years old through to adults, with classes for complete beginners, experienced karateka and families who want to train together.
Our classes focus on:
Every student is encouraged to learn at their own pace while being supported by experienced, DBS-checked instructors.
